Saudi woman granted divorce over second marriage
10/03/2010A Saudi woman was allowed to divorce her husband after he violated the terms of their marriage contract by marrying a second woman, Al Arabiya reported Wednesday (March 10th). The woman, who remains unidentified, was married to her husband for 20 years when she discovered he had a second wife. A Jeddah court ruled that the union was rendered invalid because the woman had written into her marriage contract that her future husband should not marry another. "All scholars agree that the conditions in marriage contracts are legitimate and that violating them invalidates the contract," said Abdullah al-Manei of the Council of Senior Scholars.
