Her appointment is part of a series of judicial reforms in Abu Dhabi, as well as part of a broader campaign to promote the participation of women in the emirate’s development.
The UAE Cabinet recently approved the appointment of its first two female Emirati ambassadors, the Khaleej Times reported on Sept. 19.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, UAE prime minister and ruler of Dubai, praised the appointments, saying they reinforced women’s roles in various leadership positions, the Khaleej Times reported.

Al-Dhaheri said she was grateful for the opportunity to serve her country. “The decision to appoint women judges helps consolidate Emirati women’s growing role in the public life,” she told Arab News.
