EGYPT — Egypt may invite Mohamed Zidan, a striker for a professional German club, to play in its World Cup qualifying match against Algeria. Zidan was removed from the team's roster during qualifying matches against Rwanda and Zambia, when he offered no explanation for not participating in Egypt’s friendly match with Guinea in August.
Zidan has since apologised for his absence, which was sufficient to return him to the team’s ranks.
Egyptian national team coach Hassan Shehata said that Zidan made a mistake, but that his error would not prevent him from taking part in the match against Algeria. He added that the team needed Zidan's skills in next month's must-win match against Algeria.
Zidan said that he had always dreamed of playing in the World Cup tournament. Now that the opportunity has presented itself, he says it is time for him to return the favour to the team's coach, who welcomed him back.
Shehata says he will meet officials from the Egyptian Football Association to discuss the possibility of altering the schedule of some Egyptian Premier League games before the Algeria match, to ensure the team is as well-prepared as possible for the coming showdown. Both Egypt, winner of six African Nations Cup titles, and Algeria are tied with ten points each in their qualifying rounds. If, as expected, Algeria defeats Rwanda, the three points from that match would put them ahead of Egypt. In order to advance to the World Cup, Egypt will then have to defeat Algeria in Cairo.

Egypt or Algeria. No matter who wins, the outcome is the same. We need one team to play in South Africa. Peace be upon you.
God willing, Egypt will win the World Cup.
God willing, Egypt will beat Algeria by three points.
God willing, we will win over Algeria for one reason only -- to respond to those people who burned the Egyptian t-shirt and flag. They have forgotten what Egypt has done for them. That is enough. Egypt is responsible for writing their national anthem. God willing, we will win over Algeria.
God willing, Egypt will win over Algeria, 4-0.
God willing, Egypt will win, 4-0, and will make it to the World Cup. Prince Shubra, Cairo
The best part of the article is the return of Zidan. I hope he will be with Amro Zaki and Abu Trika without difficulties against Algeria.
