Artist Darine Hadchiti is working on several projects. Some will be ready for release soon, including the video for the song "Mushtaka", a sequel to "Kol Al Kossa". Others are in their final stages, such as "Huduruh", written by Sheikh Sabah Nasser Al- Sabah.
One song is dedicated to the Egyptian people as part of her initiative to devote songs to the population in Arab countries.
Darine sat down with Al-Shorfa to talk about her latest projects.
Al-Shorfa: What are you preparing now that you have returned from Australia?
Darine: While in Australia, I filmed the music video for "Mushtaka" with director Jad Al-Habr. The video will be filmed during the month of February, before Valentine’s Day. The song is written by the poet Elias Nasr, composed by Tarek Abu Jawdeh and distributed by Hadi Sharara.
I am also preparing a song in the style of the Gulf region called "Huduruh", in co-operation with the poet Sheikh Sabah Nasser Al-Sabah and the composer Yacoub Khobeizy.
Al-Shorfa: What is the music video "Mushtaka" about?
Darine: I can only say that it is a sequel to the video of my song "Kol Al Kossa" that talks about the story of a young man suffering from cancer who gets into an accident while travelling for a surgical operation.
Al-Shorfa : You collaborated with director Jad Al-Habr.
Darine: My collaboration with him is mainly due to the professional team that he manages, the outstanding cinematography he possesses, the precision and professionalism of his work and the clear image he had when he directed my song. Jad Al-Habr and his team have a lot of directing experience and he has worked on the music videos for the Australian singer Kylie Minogue.
Al-Shorfa: Is this co-operation a result of his international vision and the exposure he can give you?
Darine: Jad Al-Habr executed the ideas that go along with my style and he did not try to portray me in a Western style. He used all the technology and the advanced methods to create works that follow my style. I met with him when he visited Lebanon to discuss collaboration with the company "Lea Production" where he showed interest in meeting with me. "Mushtaka" is our sixth collaboration in Australia.
Al-Shorfa: You are known for dedicating songs to the people of Arab countries and the last one is a song that you will dedicate to Egypt. What’s the story behind those songs?
Darine: It is in my nature to dedicate songs to the people of Arab countries in the Lebanese dialect to express to them my love and gratitude. I have dedicated songs to Tunisia, Kuwait, Jordan and Qatar, and now I have a song for the Egyptian people that will soon be released, written and composed by Yasser Jalal.
Al-Shorfa: Are you thinking these songs in one album?
Darine: We are talking about 28 Arab countries. When the songs are all aesthetically ready in terms of lyrics, melody and content that are meaningful to me, then I don’t see any reason not to combine them into one album. Anyway, I am taking my time with this project.
Al-Shorfa: Besides all that, any new plans for the coming year?
Darine: I have not yet finished preparing all the songs I have. Each year brings its share of plans and projects. For now, my first priority is the video clip, and I’m getting ready to travel to Qatar for the launching of a large international cosmetic company that I will represent worldwide.
