Algeria's only contestant, Mehdi, left the Star Academy competition during the sixth prime on Friday (March 26th), leaving 16 students to continue on the journey to stardom.

As usual, the prime featured many song-and-dance shows and two guest stars, Tunisian star Latifa and Lebanese Ayman Zbib. Performances ranged from classic songs to heritage, popular, Gulf and romantic tunes, songs by renowned Arab and foreign artists, as well as songs by the two guest stars.

Latifa opened the prime with "Law Faker", joined by Miral and Badreya. She also performed a solo of her new song "Athada" in the Gulf dialect. Later in the show Rahma, Zayna and Asma joined her to perform a medley of her songs "Baheb Bi Gharamak ", "Inshallah ", and "Habibi".

When host Hilda asked Latifa why she visited Lebanon regularly, she explained that the entire Arab nation is her homeland. "Tunisia is my life, Egypt raised me, but one cannot do without Beirut, Lebanon," Latifa said.

Ayman Zbib sang "Hala Yamma" with Sultan and Mohamad Ramadan. Zbib also sang a solo from his new album "Bahebak Wallahi."

The Lebanese singer told the show's fans that "audiences are the cornerstone in supporting any artist." A song becomes a hit because "it is the fruit of devoted efforts in terms of lyrics, tunes, music arrangement, vocals, emotions and a moving performance."

Nominee Rania sang "Sabri Alil", and Tahra, also a nominee, gave her rendition of "Leila Menel Layali". Mehdi performed a foreign song titled "Take Me Higher".

The prime featured several video reportages of the students, including one on Osama Rahbani's weekly visit to the Academy to evaluate the students' performances during the previous prime.

New elections are scheduled for this week to select a new representative to succeed Mahmoud Shokri. Mahmoud's reward for his great performance as the students' delegate consisted of a choice: either spend an evening outside the Academy with one of his female colleagues or hold a party inside the Academy with all of his colleagues. Mahmoud picked the second option.

In the top five for this week, Asma came in first after receiving rave reviews from the teachers and based on her success in the previous prime in terms of both vocals and performance.

As a reward, Asma had to choose between visiting Turkey, accompanying Mohamad Ramadan to Disneyland Paris, or going with Miral to Scotland. Asma chose Disneyland Paris.

Zeina finished second based on her performance of Edith Piaf's song, and for her ability to sing both Oriental and Western songs. Rahma finished third-- her first appearance in the top five. Badreya was in fourth place while Abdulaziz came in the fifth place.

Amidst jitters and tension, the sixth prime ended with voting by viewers. Most of the votes (48%) went to Tahra, compared to 31% for Mehdi and 21% for Rania. Students' votes, however, settled it in favour of Rania, forcing Mehdi to leave the Academy.

Whoever participates in such a program is a petty person who does not have character, because he wants to achieve popularity at the expense of his own rights and himself. They are like commodities in front of the millions who watch his behavior every day in the stupid Academy. I think that whoever participates in Star Academy is abnormal and lacks morals, as he practices all kinds of decadence live, without shame or regard for the nature of the communities that watch his attitudes, which do not befit a respectful human being. There is the mixing between youth of both sexes, dirty flirting in public, and dancing like children. I think that what happened with the young man Rami Chemali, who is of Lebanese origin, who was the victim of a horrific crash that cost him his life and the lives of others, and which seriously injured his friend, who was sitting in his car, shows the rashness, recklessness and indifference of this young man. In fact, he was driving very fast and in a frivolous manner, without a sense of responsibility, which caused his car to veer off the road and crash into another. This led to the death of the driver of the other car and his poor wife, who were not guilty of anything, just because Rami Chemali wanted to speed, because he considered himself better than others, as he was one of the students in this failed and decadent Academy. Looking at this incident, we can have an idea about the morals and the education of Star Academy candidates. I wonder how these channels can broadcast such decadent programs, having no message to convey to improve the bitter reality of the Arab states, which needs a real awakening, to get rid of these poor channels that do not observe the principles of the media and the profession, and which present trivial programs such as Star Academy, which is not worth watching.

I like Muhammad Ali very much and his voice is powerful. You are the super star. I hate Miral very much because she is arrogant and ugly. I like Rania, because we are Egyptians.

The best thing is that you all love each other and we support all of you, regardless of nationalities. I would like to say to Rania, your voice is very beautiful.

Last Friday, the prime was very nice, especially Muhammad Ali. The question to Tahrah and Muhammad Ali as to whether they love each other was very good. Al-Aswania.
