Iran is constructing more efficient centrifuges that will be used in its nuclear programme in 2011, AP reported Friday (December 18th). Vice President Ali Akbar Salehi said Iranian scientists will be using them at Iranian enrichment facilities. Iranian officials said that scientists are working on more advanced centrifuges, but Salehi's comments place a more precise date on the centrifuges' implementation.
The remarks seem to indicate that Iran is moving ahead with its enrichment programme despite IAEA insistence that it halt these operations. At the Copenhagen climate summit on Thursday, President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad declared that all countries should have access to clean and renewable energy sources, including nuclear energy.
