The leader of Houthi rebels in the north of Yemen may have been killed by government forces, the government's defence ministry website reported Sunday (December 27th). "There are increasing reports about the death of the terrorist Abdul Malik Al-Houthi, who was severely injured in an attack aimed at a gathering with a group of terrorist elements," the website said. The Yemeni military command has not officially confirmed Houthi's death.

Al-Arabiya also reported that Al-Houthi was killed in an airstrike. There were also some reports that he has been severely wounded and taken to Eritrea for treatment, Asharq Alawsat reported.
