Yemen troops have seized control of Houthi rebel hideouts in Saada's old city after fierce fighting on Sunday (January 10th), according to a report on the defence ministry's newspaper website, www.26sep.net. Reports from the area say that 17 rebels and 8 government soldiers were killed in the battles.
A statement posted on the rebels' site said that clashes were still underway. The rebels accused the government of using bulldozers to "destroy" property in the city.
