The High Administrative Court in Egypt ruled that a ban on the face veil in university examinations is unconstitutional and violates a woman's right to dress in accordance with her beliefs. The case was brought by 55 female students. The government strongly advocates the proscription of face veils in girls' dormitories and university exam halls, saying it facilitates cheating and provides a way for male visitors to enter female dorms undetected. The court found that a woman must show her face when asked for security reasons.
