Yemen police arrested the father and 26-year-old husband of a child bride in Sanaa who was forcibly married at age 10, the Yemen Observer reported Thursday (March 11th). Sally al-Sabahi, now 12, complained to police that she was married against her will and was beaten by her husband and her father, who ordered her to obey her husband. After hearing Sally's story and speaking with her human-rights lawyer, Shatha Nasser, police ordered the girl's husband and father to be brought in for questioning. The girl is hoping for a court-ordered divorce.
