Iran's female soccer team will not participate in this year's Youth Olympics because of a FIFA ban on Islamic head scarves, Al Arabiya reported Tuesday (April 6th). The hijab is required for post-pubescent females in Iran. FIFA, the international body that regulates football, issued a decision banning Islamic head wear, saying it is "not in accordance with the laws of the game," read a press release by the Asian Football Confederation. Law four from FIFA's rule book states that "basic compulsory equipment must not have any political, religious or personal statements."
