Separatist protests in south Yemen have killed 18 people and injured 120 this year, according to a government report. The interior and defence ministers presented the findings to parliament. The report indicated that 10 policemen were among the 18 killed during a total of 245 protests from January through March 2010. The government arrested dozens of activists awaiting trials for calling for secession from the north. North Yemen and south Yemen united in 1990.
