In a speech at a military camp in Taiz, Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh said he would use the armed forces to combat what he called criminals and others using divisive tactics, the Yemen Observer reported Monday (May 24th). Saleh stressed the need to stay current with military training, which he said paid off while fighting the Houthi rebels in north Yemen. "This is what was noticed during the military operations in Saada," Saleh said. He recommended that soldiers in camp not chew qat or smoke cigarettes in order to save money and preserve their health.
