Bahrain replaced its national football coach after its team failed to make it to the World Cup finals this year, wire services reported Thursday (June 3rd).
Josef Hickersberger, Austria’s former coach, takes over from the Czech Milan Macala after Bahrain was defeated by New Zealand in the World Cup playoffs.
Hickersberger spent a year in Bahrain coaching in 1996. This year, the 62-year-old led Abu Dhabi’s al-Wahda team to their first national title victory.
