The UAE General Authority of Islamic Affairs issued a fatwa stating that vuvuzelas, the plastic horn that World Cup fans use to make noise during matches, cannot be used in public if they surpass 100 decibels, wire services reported Friday (July 9th).

The blast of the vuvuzela is about 127 decibels. Thousands of the horns were imported to the UAE for fans to use during the World Cup.
