Yemen's security forces clashed with southern rebels occupying a government building. The ensuing gun battle killed a civilian passing by, Reuters reported Thursday (March 11th). Earlier this week, President Ali Abdullah Saleh offered dialogue with the southern separatists following increased violence by both sides. But he also warned that the separatist flag would "burn in the days and weeks ahead." The southern rebels have not yet responded to the prospect of talks. Meanwhile, protests were held throughout the south where 250 protesters were arrested for illegally demonstrating, Al Jazeera reported.
