Jordan announced it will introduce electric cars for use by public-sector employees as part of a pledge to reduce carbon-monoxide emissions, The Jordan Times reported on Thursday (September 2nd).
A handful of cars manufactured by Nissan will be introduced next year into the Amman Municipality fleet, followed by the Petra Tourist Authority.
According to an agreement between Nissan and the Jordanian government, Jordan will consider a purchase of up to 300 Nissan electric vehicles. A fully charged car offers a range of 160 kilometers with zero emissions. Jordan will be the first Arab government to explore the potential of electronic cars.
