Jordan's tourist sector saw strong growth this year following a "dismal" 2009, The Jordan Times reported Friday (September 3rd).

The first seven months of 2010 saw "significant" growth in the number of visitors from the United Kingdom, European countries, and Russia, said Nayef Fayez, the director general of the Jordan Tourism Board.

An estimated 2.7 million tourists have visited Jordan this year, compared with 2.07 million during the first seven months of 2009.
