Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon and most Gulf states announced they will celebrate Eid al-Fitr Friday (September 10th), ending 30 days of Ramadan fasting.

The official declaration comes following traditional moon-sighting ceremonies.

In Jordan, telescopes were set up across the country on Wednesday night, but the crescent moon was not spotted, making Friday the first day of Eid, said Chief Islamic Justice Ahmed Hilayel.
