FIFA donated $250,000 to the families of victims of the football riots in Port Said, Egypt, in which more than 70 people were killed last week, Arabian Business magazine reported Wednesday (February 8th).

The sport's governing body said the money would be transferred to a charity account that the al-Ahly Club opened by last Sunday. The victims died following a match between al-Ahly and al-Masry.

"The football community, including FIFA, must assist its Egyptian brothers and sisters," FIFA President Sepp Blatter said in a statement. "Many of the victims were so young. They were also a source of support for their families, who now need help."

By the way, no one is giving us charity. This is our right, because we are members of the international union.
